A pet dog showed immense bravery as it fought off a venomous snake in a bid to save its owner’s baby from being fatally bitten. Unfortunately, the dog lost its life in the heroic attempt. The incident was captured on security cameras installed outside the house in Kidapawan City, Philippines, which showed two dogs attacking the cobra.
When a lizard snuck into the front garden through the gate, Moxie, the white dachshund who is two years old, started barking at it. In response, Miley, the black dachshund, picked up the monacled cobra with its mouth.
The footage displays two brave dogs taking turns to battle a snake. One of them clamped onto the snake’s tail while the other one attacked its head. Although they managed to kill the cobra after a two-minute fight, Miley, the four-year-old dachshund, suffered from severe bites and passed away soon after. Moxie survived but lost her sight due to the venom.
Last Friday, an unfortunate event occurred while a dachshund owner’s one year-old baby girl, named Skye, was sleeping inside the house. The father of the little girl, Jaime Selim, and his wife Pauie, were informed about the incident upon their return home.
According to Jaime, he and his wife were away for work. Upon their return, their assistant informed them of an incident and checked the cameras. They were surprised but also grateful to their dogs for protecting their baby Skye. Jaime expressed his gratitude towards his loyal dogs and mentioned how much they will miss them.
In a hurry, they rushed Moxie to the nearest veterinary clinic to receive medical attention. Although she was fortunate enough to survive, her injuries resulted in permanent blindness.
